Hi! I just installed Thesis Sharp on this new blog, and I’m loving the way it looks. I’m very new to blogging and have zero technology skills, so of course I’m having a little trouble:) There’s a couple of default widgets showing on the site, that I can’t seem to get rid of. Can you give me any advice?

Also, I’d like to know if I could pay you for an hour to just look it over and make sure everything looks right. I followed an ebook from Robb Sutton about which plugins to install, and which sites to ping etc. as well as the settings and things like that so I feel ok about some of it. My problem is some of the easy things like the sidebar and footer customizations that you listed on your site. I seriously do not want to even open the CSS section because I tried that on another site and screwed things up royally:)

Also, is is possible to put a header on this? I’d love to just pay you to customize the thing, but I think I should just go little by little at this point and see how things go. If you could let me know if this would work for you, and what you would charge for an hour of your time as well as a header or logo, that would be great.

Thanks!

Hey Debbie – Sorry I overlooked your comment! Yes all those things are possible. I dropped you a message on your site so if you’re still interested in using the skin, feel free to get in touch!

Great work on your thesis-sharp layout. I am looking to create better looking sidebars, insert a custom background image, and customize my NAV menu (To look different with images). Any suggestions, recommendations, tutorials, or any help at all for me?

Justin,

Looks like you and I might be looking for roughly the same thing ;-) I’m currently waiting on an answer to a couple of questions regarding resizing the footer widget areas and the navbar customizaion.

Justin – Thx for the feedback. Check out the Customizing the Sidebar post for some info on how to use background images in your widgets.

You can change out the background the nav menu by tweaking the custom.css code. In the latest version of the skin (updated Dec. 14, 2009) the custom.css file is fully commented and you should be able to just replace the default images with yours by following the instructions in that file. Let me know if you need some more help!

Hey John – I replied to your original post and dropped you a line on Twitter. I’ll be updating the skin to take care of a few of the things you mentioned.

Hello,

I am not familiar with skins but this seems like something I might want to try by starting out with Sharp. Am I confined to only one sidebar as displayed on your Sharp Demo, or can I have two as allowed in Thesis design? In other words are all of the original Thesis options still available to me if I install this “Skin”?

Thank you so much for you anticipated speedy reply.

Perhaps this theme is orphaned? Anyone know?
